Vikram Bhatt directorial 1921 has been having its lukewarm run at the box office. Though the film has been sandwiched between the big films, it has done well than its contemporaries released in the same week.
The horror film, which is an extension to the franchise of 1920 directed by Vikram, stars Karan Kundra and Zareen Khan in the lead roles and is managing to keep the audience at the edge of their seats. While the film continues to be at the receiving end from critics, the audience is not minding to visit this horrific tale.
The movie is in its third week and has collected an amount of 15.45 crores at the box office. 1921, a horror drama released on January 12, 2018, clashed with two other major films — Kaalakandi and Mukkabaaz respectively. The viewers perhaps also liked the fresh on-screen pairing of Zareen and Karan Kundrra, who is a known face on Indian television.
The music of 1921 has received much appreciation from the audience. It has been composed by Harish Sagane, Asad Khan, and Pranit Mawale. The lyrics are penned by Shakeel Azmi and Raqueeb Alam.
Based in the year 1921, the film deals with the battle of Ayush (Karan) and Rose (Zareen) with a cursed spirit that would lead them to their ultimate redemption or downfall.
Zareen, who is essaying the role of a ghost-whisperer in the horror film, made her debut in Bollywood alongside Sallu in the film Veer (2008) and shared screen space with the Dabangg star in Ready in a special song.
