Padmaavat has emerged as a major success at the Box Office. The film has sustained extremely well on Monday with 14 crore* coming in. These are fantastic numbers indeed since Thursday collections were 19 crore and this is a very good hold.
Overall collections of the film stand at 128 crore* and with this the lifetime numbers of Ram Leela, the first film that saw Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone come together, have been left far behind. As a matter of fact it is now a given that the film would be the biggest success that the trio has given together since Bajirao Mastani would be history too in quick time.
If the early trends hits the bull’s eye, the movie is all set to hit the 130 crore mark by its 1st Monday. The collections become even more special because given the situation of protests against the movie in major parts of the country. When it’s hitting the box office with full throttle, there still are various parts of the country where the movie has been banned.
When the movie has been appreciated for its every performance, Ranveer Singh has been the talk of the town for his dark & villainous performance in the movie. For Ranveer, along with the acclaim that his portrayal of Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji has brought to him, the film has spelt success at the Box Office as it delivered his career-best opening on Day 1 — 19 crores.
It is now time for the film to race towards the 200 crore mark. That feat should be accomplished by end of the second week by the magnum opus and from there on it would be interesting to see where does the film eventually land up. For Deepika Padukone in particular, the film is now in a solid chance to be her biggest grosser as it has potential to surpass the total of Chennai Express.
